Surrealistic anatomy by Zdzisław Beksiński
Zdzisław Beksiński was a painter, sculptor and photographer from polish origin. Zdzisław is mostly known for his surrealistic paintings, which are filled with death, skeletons and strange human bodies in post-apocalyptic environments. In Poland, a museum displays the artistic legacy of Zdzisław.
One of his famous paintings is called “The Trumpeter”, a human skeleton playing the trumpet. People were inspired by it, and tattooed the painting on their arms and legs. The painting has also been used as the cover of a band’s music album.
Zdzisław didn’t name most of his paintings, because he felt that it matters more what one feels when looking at a painting rather then a name:
“What matters is what appears in your soul, not what your eyes see and what you can name”.
