"Visceral": human anatomy from the inside-out
Paola Rojas H. and David Pérez combined their skills and different approaches in order to create “Visceral”, a study of human anatomy from the inside-out. Both artists see humans as “fragile and complex creatures”.
David drew muscles, bones, nerves and arteries on each model. After the drawings had been perfected Paola took pictures of the models. The drawings are not only very detailed, attention has also been given to the facial expression and the body posture. Each model had to express a passionate, dynamic character. The use of the colors blue and red are not coincidently. Blue represents the “cold frozen body” and red the “fiery heart”.
“Red and blue, walk the body from the inside out. Each stroke, which happens to be an anatomy lesson, speaks of instincts. And here it joins intestinal inmost heart. The coldest color, takes us into the bowels and these in turn shows the fragility and complexity of which we are made. “
