Injury prevention for adult male soccer players. [free PhD. thesis + 26 prevention exercise videos]

Sport is considered a vital element of an active and healthy life-style that reduces the risk of various diseases. Soccer is one of the most popular sports worldwide and challenges physical fitness by requiring a variety of skills at different intensities. However, it also causes the largest number of injuries each year (18% of all sports injuries) in the Netherlands.

The aim of this dissertation is to contribute to the body of evidence on injury prevention for adult male soccer players. It reports on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of an injury prevention programme in terms of injury incidence and injury severity in this population. It also presents information about the epidemiology and aetiology of soccer injuries > from Anne-Marie van Beijsterveldt (2013). All rights reserved to the author and the Universiteit Utrecht.

The free full text PhD. thesis (187 pages) can be downloaded here.

The prevention programme PDF with 10 exercises to be done in each training. The programme is a simple, catchy and time-efficient preventive programme that comprises ten evidence-based or best-practice exercises and the promotion of Fair Play. It requires no equipment other than a ball, and can be completed in 10-15 minutes.

Below you can view and study 26 exercises to prevent soccer injuries.
